"Pichwai" comes from two Sanskrit words:
- "Pichh" - back
- "Wai" - hanging or textile
Traditionally these were the elaborate cloth paintings that were hung behind Shrinathji (a beloved form of Krishna) in Nathdwara's temples. They show cows, lotus flowers, peacocks, and scenes from Krishna's life, painted with flat brushwork, soft colors, and incredibly fine details.
Our kit features a jewelled cow standing among lotus blooms, inspired by those ancient temple paintings.
Great for anyone wanting a calming creative project, whether you're experienced or just getting back into painting. You'll have something beautiful to show for it.
Created with care at our studio by artists, not mass produced. ✨
Kit contents: 8 x 10 in canvas and 3 brushes.
